What are the most important things for fat-loss.

It’s January, there is so much marketing floating around about how you should train, what you should eat, every diet fad and training programme claiming to be the best and burn fat.

the most important things for PURELY FAT LOSS is..

1. your nutrition .. unfortunately, in the aspect of making sure you’re eating fruits veggies and lots of protein, there are specific calculations to ensure we hit the right amount for our goals gender and weight (please reach out if you would like help with this). Then there’s your calories, we HAVE to be in a deficit. which means eating less than we burn per day. I encourage clients to do this gradually, if you try to cut everything out and slash your calories down too low (yes 1200 is way too low) then you won’t stick to it. you’ll be eating way too little to be productive, and then there’s more risk of losing muscle which we definitely don’t want !

2. ENJOYMENT whatever you’re going to do, enjoy it. because if you dont you won’t stick to it. If youre finding yourself saying you’re going to the gym, or follow a diet, or shit slimming world club because ‘it worked before’ then it didn’t work. because you’re back to square one.

3. MAKE SURE YOUR ROUTINE IS MANAGEABLE. If you can’t make it to the gym 5x a week it doesn’t matter, plan the days you can. If you can’t hit 10000 steps , what can you realistically hit? and then start there. If you can’t meal prep every day, meal prep for the days you can and find alternative ways around the other days and convenient options that serve your health and goals. If its too overwhelming, you’ve gone 0-100 because its January, or you have a wedding or event, and what you’re doing isn’t manageable realistic or enjoyable, it will fail. I work with my clients on ensuring everything fits into their lifestyle and can ensure its a long term change.

4. having SOME structure, whilst plans and fitness marketing will all claim to have the best gym plan, it’s only the best if you can stick to It, and it make you feel productive. Programming is a really important element to progression in performance and physique regardless of your abilities, but I won’t bore you with that now. Having a plan in place to make sure you’re progressing is super important, it also hold you accountable to sticking to a structure.
